The Doctor leaned down, picking up River like she was a fragile piece of
glass. "Hello, little one. Welcome to the big wide universe," he smiled,
tracing a finger down her cheek. "When you're bigger, your daddies are
going to show you the most amazing things. But not until you're old enough
to run, because that's part of it all, running."
He grins at Jack, then back down at the baby. "But you don't have to worry
that for a long time. For now, we're just going to hold still and be a
family together. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, but Jack does, so
we'll rely on him to make sure I don't mess up, alright?"
The Doctor reaches out and squeezes Jack's hand. "Right, Jack?"
